There’s no doubt that Jennifer Connelly looks simply beautiful on Allure’s February cover. The He’s Just Not That Into You actress sports a short, choppy haircut and full, lush eyebrows on the latest issue of the glossy that dubs her an “American Beauty.”
But in the feature story within the magazine, she offers awesome insight to what she considers even more important than outer beauty. She says, “The thing that really matters to me is well-being and happiness. Maybe it comes from knowing people who have tortured themselves trying to meet these strangely narrow and rigorous definitions of what our culture thinks is beautiful.” Alongside photos shot by Carter Smith at New York City’s historic Academy Mansion, Connelly certainly does look well, happy and, yes, beautiful.
Makeup artist Stephane Marais had a (relatively) easy job when it came to making Connelly look cover-ready. He chose to focus on her eyes, leaving “the rest of the makeup luminous and subtle.” Marais used a shimmery beige shadow across her lids and brow bones and a soft taupe shade in the creases. For definition, Marais wedged black pencil between the roots of her lashes and applied mascara. He smudged a pink cream blush on her cheeks and filled her lips in with a nude pencil, topping them off with a glossy rose lipstick. As for Connelly’s hair, Serge Normant used few products. Among them, a volumizing spray, hairspray and a dab of pomade to finish the look. He simply blow-dried hair and then curled small sections before softening waves with a brush.
These easy hair and makeup looks are definitely ones to try. And Connelly’s flawless cover look is just one of many reasons why we can’t wait to pick up this issue when it hits newsstands on January 28th.
