Away from the runway and far from the field, a model and a football player reside in peace. Enter the Brentwood home of Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady. In a recent editorial, Architectural Digest gets a front row view of the couple's relaxing and riveting residence.
Their nesting story began in 2009, when the Victoria's Secret Angel and Patriots player stumbled upon a potential heavy So-Cal lot. “It was important for us to plant roots for our family, and since we both enjoy the creative process, we decided to start from scratch,” Brady says of their decision to begin building their dream home from the ground up. Bundchen and Brady brought in architect Richard Landry and interior designer Joan Behnke to help in the creative process. Their chief goal: to create a comfortable, simple, and eco-friendly nest for themselves and their family and friends. An environmentally sound home was key. “From the beginning we asked everyone involved in the design and construction, ‘How can we make it as sustainable as possible?’” Bündchen says. Their residence uses solar energy, a rainwater recovery system, and recycled materials.
Since the home's construction, the couple has expanded their brood--a son Benjamin, and daughter Vivienne joined Brady's son from a previous relationship, making them a family of five, the perfect number for the cozy home. “Gisele and I have eight sisters between us, and there are lots of kids. We built this house as a sanctuary for our family—a place where we can enjoy being together.”
