Crop tops are seriously on a cycle of popularity, coming and going in the world of women's fashion since the 50s. This fall and winter, the stunted shirt is back, being worn with full length, high waisted bottom wear for a sophisticated pairing of short and long cuts. As the weather is getting cooler, go with a cropped sweater paired with chic printed trousers or a gorgeous pleated maxi skirt. Our favorite sources of inspiration for achieving the look come from Think Runway's round up of cropped top street style and Blue is in Fashion This Year's three favorite looks rocking the Miu Miu Cropped Cashmere Pullover. As the images display, using brilliantly creative layering and the right silhouette on the bottom, the crop sweater doesn't necessarily need to show off your belly if that just isn't your style. But then again, there's nothing wrong with a bit of peek-a-booing skin in the right setting.
If the shortened sweater isn't your cup of tea, try a cropped sleeveless turtleneck this fall. Put a blazer or chunky cardigan over it to keep warm and tone things down if you choose to show a bit of belly. We love how Death by Platforms paired her cropped turtleneck with some high waisted, neon gradation style dungarees. The look is such an awesome 90s throwback.
