How To: Rock a Bright Lip
Are you daring enough to rock a bright, bold lip? Even if you usually aren’t, summer is the time to break out of your shell and try something new! This season, opt for hot pinks, fuchsias, oranges, and warm reds. In this how-to, we’ll show you the best ways to pull off these summer lip shades so you can rock them with confidence.
- Eyes: A wash of gold or bronze over the lid complements almost any lip color, especially bright summer shades. Swipe the shadow across your lid and smudge a black or dark brown kohl liner into the lash line for more definition. You could also keep the lid bare and simply apply liquid or gel liner to the top. Add a flick to create a mod cat-eye effect for instant glamour. For a night out, smoke out your eyes with an earthy brown or gunmetal shade. Apply the color all across your lid and blend to avoid any harsh lines. Add some liner to the top and smudge it so it fans out toward the outer corner to achieve a subtle cat-eye. To finish off any eye look remember to apply a good amount of mascara, or add some flair with falsies.
- Face: When wearing bright lip shades, you want to add some life to your complexion, but avoid looking like a clown. With such a bold lip, we recommend avoiding blush all together and to instead dust a bit of bronzer onto your cheeks and cheekbones. This will add dimension without going too crazy with color.
- Lips: Now it’s time for the fun part—the lips! If your lips are chapped or peeling, make sure to exfoliate first using a lip scrub or toothbrush. Slather on your favorite lip balm, and lightly dab a bit of foundation using a brush or your fingers. This will act as a base to make your lipstick last longer, and will help make your color appear more vibrant. Apply a matching lip liner if you have one, and then go ahead and apply that lipstick!
