There's nothing sloppy about being slouchy, according to the spring 2015 runway. Taut and tailored took a side seat as oversize ensembles and loose layering proved to be a reoccurring idea this season. The trend showed up at Tibi, Chanel, and Barbara Bui, to name a few, and now we're ready to make this runway look a reality. Here are a few slouchy-style rules to keep in mind.
- Invest in easy-to-wear slouchy styles like oversize knit sweaters, grandfather cardigans, relaxed trousers, boyfriend tees, low-slung jeans, loose dusters and blazers, and roomy joggers. These are the key pieces that, when fashioned together, keep this aesthetic looking luxe rather than unrefined.
- Balancing different silhouettes is key. If you're doing a lot of slouchy styles, then elongate the look with sleek heels and dainty jewelry. If you're focusing on only one oversize piece, then pair it with slimmer styles for balance.
- Mix aesthetics. Get sporty and chic with joggers and pumps. Do downtown cool and polished prep with distressed boyfriend jeans and a classic trench. Get creative with seemingly contradictory styles pieced together for a flawless finish.
