True story... I used to hate beer -- like, you couldn't have paid me to drink it... even if I was parched -- even if I was stranded on a desert with no other liquids or sustenance in sight.
Then one day about six months ago, I suddenly and quite randomly acquired a taste for it... (which is funny because I was so adamantly against it, I can't remember how or why I was tempted to try yet again.) But happily, I now can occasionally enjoy a cold glass of beer. And it makes me feel like such a laid-back, low-key chick... Instead of ordering an extravagant espresso martini or a labor-intensive margarita, I can grab a stout and chug (or sip!) it like a not-so high maintenance lady.
So, what I'm trying to say in the longest and must round-about way possible, is that I'm actually excited for St. Patrick's Day! I won't have to utter the mortifying words, "one Malibu Bay Breeze please." And I definitely won't have to suffer the rolling eyes of an over-worked bartender. Nope, I can go to a pub and order myself a foaming brewski. Or, better yet, I can host a green-and-girlie beer tasting party like the one I saw on Hostess With the Mostess. Doesn't this look awesome? Come to think of it, I'd rather have a few peeps over at my apartment rather than battle the masses at a local bar... Whatever you decide to do (green beer? corned beef and cabbage? the parade?), have a happy and safe St. Patty's Day!
