Dr. Fredric Brandt, innovative cosmetic dermatologist to the stars, passed away April 5 in Miami at the age of 65 of an unknown illness.
Born in New Jersey, Dr. Brandt began his career as a cancer researcher at Sloan-Kettering with a focus on leukemia. The dynamic dermatologist was a pioneer in the use of natural antioxidants to fight free radicals, leading him to delve deeper into its effects and found that green tea could battle against premature aging. The find helped create the base of his eponymous skincare brand. He was also a leader in injectables like Restalyne, fillers, botullinum toxins, as well as lasers for in-office procedures. Dr. Brandt became an icon in the beauty industry, preserving the youthful look of stars like Madonna, Kelly Ripa, Stephanie Seymour, and many more, as well as providing skincare solutions via his Sirius XM radio show.
Dr. Brandt’s publicist Jacquie Tractenberg informed Page Six of his passing, stating, “He passed away this morning. He was suffering from an illness. Everyone who knows him is devastated. I worked with him for over 20 years and he was an amazing man, not only was he a brilliant doctor, but he was the kindest human being.”
He will be deeply missed by those in the industry, but Dr. Brandt’s immense talent and innovative thinking that revolutionized skincare will not be forgotten.
