Iris Apfel opens up in a video interview with Advanced Style’s Ari Seth Cohen for the Avant Garde Diaries. From inside her opulent home filled with plush pillows, colorful candles, and animals (both stuffed and ceramic), she chats about her time designing textiles for White House; her mother’s very different sense of style; her ode to a maximalist aesthetic with Neiman Marcus’s Ken Downing; her drug of choice (caviar, in case you're wondering); and her stuffed animals’ habit of swiping shiny things. “All my guys like jewelry you see, and they get very jealous if I buy myself something and I don’t buy them anything,” she says in the clip. “So sometimes they go to my jewelry box or my drawers and they take something that they like.” We hope to be this fun when we’re her age!
