Jason Segel and Kermit the Frog Talk Muppets

Jason Segel and Kermit the Frog, stars of the upcoming Muppets, sat down with GQ to discuss nudity, Miss Piggy, immortality, and more…

On if they were fans of each other’s films:
Jason Segel: “When you're a kid, Kermit is Jimmy Stewart, he's Tom Hanks, he's the Everyman, and it really inspired me as to what I want to be as an actor.”
Kermit: “Aw, that's so nice! I do like Jason's movies! Especially Forgetting Sarah Marshall—that opening scene inspired me to continue to work naked.”

Kermit on whether he uses a body double due to him being nude nearly the entire movie:
“I have, mostly in the love scenes with Miss Piggy. In a really, really wide shot, we can use a watermelon.”

…on if he’s still with Miss Piggy:
“I’ve known Piggy for a number of years—a number of decades, really, though she might not appreciate that candor. But yes, there is a spark for certain, and it is still sparking. Passion, I would say. It’s passion to either extreme.”

Both on Kermit’s immortality:
Kermit: “I don’t think so!”
Segel: “I must say, though, I understand her question, because you’re looking just as good as you did twenty years ago. You’re holding up fantastically.”

Kermit: “No, no, I haven’t had any work done, exactly. It’s just good clean swamp living. It’s one of those places where you can get away from it all.”
