Target is keeping up the momentum with the announcement of it's latest designer collaboration. Jason Wu is the latest creative force to partner with the retailer. Wu is a fitting choice; the designer became a household name when Michelle Obama stepped into her role as First Lady in a stunning white Wu gown. And though he was propelled into the spotlight, the low key and humble ingenue continued to hone his craft, turning out one jaw dropping collection after another. Though women everywhere know his name, few can afford his detailed gowns, feminine skirts, and luxurious satchels. The Jason Wu for Target collection is about to change that, atleast for the lucky and dedicated shoppers who manage to score a few pieces.
Wu's collection is not part of the Go International or Designer Collaborations programs, but is a standalone , limited-edition designer collection for Target. Prices will range from $19.99 to $59.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $49.99 for handbags and scarves; the collection will launch on February 5, 2012.
“My collection for Target embodies my signature aesthetic of feminine sophistication, with a mischievous nod to the 1960s,” said Wu. “I’ve had an incredible experience partnering with Target and I am looking forward to bringing these affordable designs to women across the country.”
We first heard about this partnership a few weeks back, but were sworn to secrecy. As the Missoni for Target madness unfolded we smiled to ourselves at the thought of women jumping at the chance to don one of Wu's feminine frocks. We'll be waiting in line right behind 'em.
