Jason Wu Shows Us Who’s Boss

Today, Women’s Wear Daily gave us a sneak peek into Hugo Boss’s future with new artistic director of womenswear Jason Wu at the helm.

We’ll get our first look at Wu’s vision with a “brief impressionistic video” shot by Inez von Lamsweerde and Vindoodh Matadin, starring Edie Campbell to be released on February 7th on the brand’s social platforms. “Part one of my venture with Hugo Boss,” the designer told WWD on the film titled, This is Boss. “It’s the first creative piece we’re launching.”

“It’s a fashion-image piece that gives you a visual representation about the Hugo Boss woman I had in mind, and who she should be,” Wu said.

The second will be unveiled on a much larger scale: New York Fashion Week. His first collection for the brand, which is Boss’s very first women’s only runway show and marks the first time the brand is on the NYFW roster, will be where we’ll really get a look at the Wu’s vision for the Boss woman.

“The first order of business was to really dig into the DNA of the company,” the new artistic director said. “To go visit, to learn about the history of the company, to know where it came from, where it was yesterday, what it is today, and what it can be tomorrow.”

We can’t wait to see Wu’s vision come to life (or down the runway).
