Jason Wu is one of those rare designers who can make the casual and comfortable seem decadently divine. Such was the case with his Resort 2012 collection. "It's all about this dressed up,dressed down, kind of look that I feel is very modern," explained Wu. A luxe zip-up double faced cashmere, fleece hooded sweatshirt with lace details epitomizes the season's sensibility. Tweed jackets with leather detail fuse elegance and edge in a unique way, while menswear inspired pieces somehow feel very ladylike. But it's the soft sandy palette with pops of color that really sets the tone.
"I was in Puerto Rico over the New Year's and I saw all these beautiful, interesting colors on the houses in Old San Juan," said Wu. "I sort of wanted to mix that with a very surf inspired collection." That sense of Caribbean/West Coast cool comes into play with the launch of Wu's first swimwear collection. And the aquatic influence doesn't stop there. Several tops and dresses are based around the rubber fabrication and silhouette of the classic wet suit.
Wu also presented his first collection of resort accessories collection and we don't know how the jet set every traveled without them. Striped sandals, candy colored cross-body bags, and an oversized weekender are essentials for the glam globetrotter. We're already dreaming about hitting the beach in these!
