Clean & Clear is looking under the surface for its “See the Real Me” campaign with its newest face, Jazz Jennings.
The teen joins the likes of Keke Palmer, Demi Lovato, and other amazing young women who are sharing their stories of triumph over adversity. Girls of all ages are encouraged to share their journeys via Vine, Instagram, Twitter, and more using the #SeetheRealMe hashtag and learn the stories of others. The brand fits perfectly with Jennings' low-maintenance beauty routine, which bucks the trend of piling on products. “I don't really use a lot of products besides Clean & Clear [Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub]because I don't put on a lot of makeup,” she said. “In the morning when I wake up, I'll exfoliate. Then at night when I shower, I'll also use an exfoliating scrub. My routine is easy, and I just get clean skin.”
Jennings may be only 14 years old, but she’s a published author and one of Time’s most influential teens. But what makes her a unique choice – aside from her adorably fresh face – is that she also identifies herself as a transgender girl. It’s another amazing step in showing more diversity throughout the beauty world, and we’re starting to see the tides turn. “I've learned that no matter what your differences are, you have to embrace them and be proud of the way you are,” she explained in a recent interview. “If I wasn't confident in who I am or didn't like the fact that I was transgender, then I would not have gotten as far as I have today. Also, if you accept yourself, then you'll find that others will accept you as well, and having that support is really reassuring.”
