Jennifer Lopez is Giada De Laurentiis’s Hairspiration

We all turn to celebs when we’re in search of beauty inspirations, even foodies like Giada De Laurentiis!

As one of The Food Network’s biggest stars and the face of Clairol’s Natural Instincts, De Laurentiis sat down with Glam for a little tress talk where she revealed that began playing with her color in he early 30’s to brighten her look, turning to the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Sophia Loren for ideas. “[Lopez] goes lighter then she goes darker, and then sometimes she pulls a little red,” she explained. “She always seems to change her look but not so drastically that you don’t know whom she is. I’ve been inspired by Sophia Loren’s looks over the years as well, so I go back and forth between modern day and more of a vintage look as well, but everybody wants to make it their own.”

The brand’s demi permanent dyes allow for a lot of experimentation, without the major risks of a permanent job, which the celeb chef appreciates. But her go-to color is Hot Cocoa. “I really wanted to find ways to highlight face and change my look a little bit to reinvent yourself a tiny bit but still feel like you look like yourself,” she shared. “The great thing about this particular color is that it feels like I’m doing something good for myself since it doesn’t have ammonia; it has coconut oil and has aloe. I feel like it conditions at the same time, and I can play around with different colors and washes out in 28 washes. So I feel like even if I didn’t love the color, it won’t last for a long time. It’s a lot faster trial and error.”

She admitted the conditioning packets in the boxed color are lifesavers whenever she’s on the road between colorings or if her tresses need more moisture after a long day on set. “Obviously, hair color and my hair is a big part of what I do anyway,” she said. “Getting a little bit older and putting my hair through a ton between being on my set and the heat of the stove for hours and hours under those lights, the travel, the different temperatures, and all of the curling takes a toll, and to be able to share how you can your hair to look glamorous and shiny and give it a boost is something that’s really helpful.”

After her turn on the catwalk during New York Fashion Week, she feels fearless about switching up her look as much as she likes. “My grandmother told me to trust my instincts when it came to picking things for my body and for my hair and what I was gong to wear,” she explained. “We’re so worried about the outer, but the true confidence and instinct come from within, and that is what I think becomes contagious.”
