Jil Sander Leaves Jil Sander…Again

Third time's a charm right, Jil Sander?

The designer is leaving her namesake brand, which she founded in 1968, for the third time for what the fashion house is calling personal reasons.

“On behalf of the group I want to thank Jil Sander for her remarkable contribution to the brand over this period,” Jil Sander chief executive Alessandro Cremonesi told Women’s Wear Daily. “Her outstanding design and creative leadership have been crucial in reinforcing the brand and positioning it to foster further prosperous growth.”

Sander first left the Milan-based fashion house in 2000 after selling 75% of her company to Prada Group in 1999, only to return in May 2003, and leave again shortly after. She took over for Raf Simons who left his post as creative director at the end of February 2012. Her last collection under her label was for spring/summer 2014.

The coming fall/winter 2014 collection will be designed in-house. No word yet on who will take Sander’s place–though, there are tons of free designers floating around out there.
