From the scars he sported as Edward Scissorhands to his vibrant look (and white mascara) as The Mad Hatter, Johnny Depp is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to transforming himself for many an iconic role. To celebrate the chameleon’s ever changing features, the Makeup Artists and Hairstylist Guild will honor him at the upcoming awards ceremony.
Makeup artist Joel Harlow will present the guild’s first Distinguished Artisan Award to Depp, as he’s been behind the actor's looks for Dark Shadows, two of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, as well as the upcoming Into the Woods. "He, probably more than any other actor working today, uses the skills of our members to delineate his characters,” Susan Cabral-Ebert, president of the Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Guild told The Hollywood Reporter. “Depp has constantly been an outstanding supporter of our crafts, ultimately respectful and appreciative of our members’ abilities and generous with his creative collaboration. A great artist himself, he allows others to shine."
We send our congrats to Johnny on his achievement, and can’t wait to see what new transformation he’ll take on next!
