This is happening: a shoe cult for Nasty Gals. The online retail giant that started as an eBay shop in 2006 is emerging into an empire and just announced that it will launch it’s own shoe line, Shoe Cult.
Last August, Nasty Gal launched a line of in-house denim, then an apparel line. A year later, shoes are now in the mix and intimates and swimwear will soon follow.
“Exclusivity is important for me,” Sophia Amoruso, the 29-year-old cofounder, chief executive officer, and creative director of Nasty Gal told Women’s Wear Daily. “Our consumer knows it’s the only place they can get this. The modern girl is less concerned with everything being a brand name. The stuff we’re designing has better sell-though but we will always continue to carry other designers. This is just the sprinkling on top.”
Shoe Cult will start with 45 styles, and another 50 will become available in September and 60 more in October. The collection will consist of pumps, platform sandals, booties, sneakers, sandals and flats retailing for $68 to $188.
