Kardashian Kollection for Lipsy was Inspired by Alaïa and Valentino
Terry Richardson didn’t only shoot the Kardashian Kollection for Sears campaign (and possibly appliances), he also photographed the stars of Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s for their Kardashian Kollection for Lipsy—a UK-based women’s brand sold at Topshop and ASOS—and that’s not the most surprising thing here.
“Valentino and Isabel Marant aren’t really our style, but their influence is reflected in the collection,” Kim said. “That idea of casual comfort that people love inspired the fabrics—there’s a lot of stretch. You know an Alaïa dress will hold and suck you in? I wanted to make pieces like that, pieces to make you feel really good about yourself.”
We’re guessing that even though Kim doesn’t have a personal style aesthetic similar to the above designers (more like Givenchy and boyfriend Kanye West’s guidance), she understands how important it is to feel good about what you’re wearing.
“For me, having people criticize what I wore and looked like when I was pregnant—that was hard,” the 33-year-old said. “It made me feel insecure, so I have tried to avoid the limelight more. Once you start focusing on the other stuff, the fragrances and our fashion line, you stop worrying about the rest.”
We’ll see how the Kardashian sisters execute their inspiration with their Lipsy line in stores and online October 24th.
