Karl Lagerfeldhas the midas touch. The latest project to benefit from it? Hôtel de Crillion where Chanel’s creative director has been commissioned to design two suites, bringing his discerning eye, his expert knowledge of the finest craftsmanship and his philosophy of reviving history with an edge to the Parisian landmark.

“We are delighted that Karl Lagerfeld has agreed to work with us on the restoration of Hôtel de Crillon. Our core philosophy is A Sense of Place and no one understands Paris or the heritage of Hôtel de Crillon better than Mr. Lagerfeld,” says Radha Arora, president of Rosewood.

First built in 1758, Hôtel de Crillion’s walls are alive with history as the building has stood through the reign of two French Kings, the French Revolution, the rise and fall of the Napoleonic Empire and the birth of the League of Nations.

The property will be closed until 2015 for a complete restoration.

This isn’t the first time the Kaiser has tried his hand at hotel design; he went Greek for the Mètropole’s new pool and lounge. So, who’s up for a trip to Paris once the restoration is complete?
