In Mademoiselle C, former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld’sdocumentary, the new grandmother says that it’s harder to be innovative the more established she’s become. But it seems the editor-in-chief of CR Fashion Book has found a way to reinvent herself once more.
“The last innovative thing I did?” she repeated at the House of Mercedez-Benz pop-up on Thursday evening. “Oh, my, that’s difficult! Maybe to put Kim [Kardashian] on the cover, no?” Oh, right, and then there’s that. “She was pregnant,” Roitfeld told us. “Pregnancy is about hope to me. I love pregnant women. We’re not PEOPLE magazine—with her name on the cover. It was very beautiful. Karl Lagerfeldhad never met her and was very excited.”
As for the new baby in her life, Roitfeld told us that she is saving her clothes for her granddaughter but it is more excited to see her in the things that her daughter wore as a child.
“She’s wearing the clothes that I gave to my daughter when she was a little baby. She has to wait a bit to wear this outfit,” the always-stylish Roitfeld told us of her Givenchy top and matching clutch baring Bambi’s image.
Who does Tom Ford’s muse consider the most stylish person she knows? “It’s never about style for me,” she said, “It’s about people that make me dream.”
