Redken is making waves with its newest mane maven: Lea T.
The hair care authority announced the Brazilian beauty as the new face of its Chromatics hair color line, and Lea T’s tresses show no shortage of strands for the brand to play with. "My mum has beautiful hair, and when I was young, I was so envious of it," she said. "Hair is so important for a woman, and I'm so lucky [mine] is natural, strong, and shiny."
Fashionistas may be familiar with Lady T who’s stomped the runway for Givenchy, posed for United Colors of Benetton, and even planted a kiss on Kate Moss for the cover of Love. What makes her a unique choice – aside from her magnificent mane – is that she identifies as a transgender woman. It marks a big step for the beauty sphere, as it’s taken time for the industry to infuse diverse faces into ad campaigns. “Being the new face of Redken is a dream come true,” she said. “It's an honor and a responsibility at the same time."
She’s proud to help break down barriers. "We're all people with our own personalities, our own beauty, our own lives," Lea said. "I love working with Redken because they appreciate all kinds of beauty. They believe in the individuality of the person, and I think that's really important.”
