Lena Dunham Snagged Three Glamour Covers
This morning, Glamour magazine released the cover of their April issue with Lena Dunhamwith noticeably less [negative] fanfare (cough, cough Jezebel) following her March 2014 stint as Anna Wintour's cover girl.
But Dunham didn’t earn just one cover. Glamour gave her three for the April issue! Inside, she talks about dating her now boyfriend JackAntonoff, her beauty ideals, and her artistic choices for Girls.
“I want you to feel like you are getting lost with these characters,” Dunham said. “So I write long scenes. TV feels the least like life when it’s like two seconds here, then ‘meanwhile at this person’s house.’ I wanted to make a show that wasn’t as bright as other shows. I’ve always been incredibly attracted to pictures of my parents [the artists Laurie Simmons and Carroll Dunham] in the 1970s. That aged photograph palette seems to give an importance to their twenties. So I was like, I’d like to make something that shows my twenties though that beautiful soft-focus lens. Also, I get very fetishistic when I’m shooting the girls—especially Jemima.”
Speaking of shooting other girls, could her days in front of the camera be numbered?
“I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore,” she told Glamour. “I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to. I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.”
