Lindsey Vonn, Evan Lysacek, and Fellow Olympians Say ‘Thanks, Mom’

We spent our Tuesday afternoon wiping away tears as P&G debuted its “Thank You, Mom” film series, chronicling the journey of six of the 20 US Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls (and their moms.) The company, which includes brands like Crest, Olay, Bounty, and more, will sponsor many of the documentary's stars for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

The Raising and Olympian film series pays tribute to the women who have helped foster the love of sport including Lindsey Vonn, Evan Lysacek, Julie Chu, and Taylor Lipset, capturing their journey from their first steps to the challenges they faced to how they overcame them to emerge as world-class athletes. “As athletes, we get to have the limelight; we get to feel good about ourselves; people want our autographs every so often,” Chu explained during the panel. “But our parents – our Moms– are the heart and soul of this journey, and I love that we get the chance to share this experience together because it means the world.”

“I find myself always talking about my Olympic journey, my Olympic achievement, my goals for Sochi,” Lysacek concurred. “And the truth is, none of those goals would ever come to fruition without the love and support from my mom.”

There are 28 short films worldwide that will premiere in the days leading to the games, which kick off February 7th.
