Since he launched his womenswear line in 2010, Tom Ford has been notoriously selective when it comes to those who are invited to view his collection, opting for very intimate runway shows. All that is changing in 2013, however!
This season, Ford will host upwards of 1,000 individuals, including bloggers, at a proper runway show during London Fashion Week. This is going to be for 500 to 1,000 people. Photographers, bloggers–a regular, real show,” he explained to the Times. “I want to show in London because I now have 100 stores worldwide. The company has jumped and I can no longer service the stores by not showing. So I have to love it and embrace it.”
Where his first show was utterly exclusive, featuring one photographer and legendary individuals such as Beyonce as his models, Ford's moving to a more traditional format. His decision to call London home for his runway moment relates to a more longterm focus he's working towards. “I hope it works here, because my dream goal is to raise my children here,” he said. “I’m only here 180 days [of the year], but I like the humor, the formality, the manners, the irreverence in England.”
