Mercedes-Benz mania hit Manhattan last night as the luxury auto maker celebrated the opening of it's new flagship dealership. A who's who of Benz owners and admirers came out to experience the decadent soiree and check out the cars and the crowd packed inside. Molly Sims and Nick Cannon were drawn to the collection of rare vintage automobiles, including a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster, while Rev Run and Alexa Ray Joel explored the plush interiors on newer models. The Veuve Clicquot flowed as chefs prepared baby lamb chops, seabass, and mushroom rissoto inspired by executive chef Gabriel Kreuther of the Modern at stations scattered throughout the 330,000 square-foot Eleventh Avenue showroom. Bronson van Wyck filled the sleek space with cheerful yellow roses in mirrored cubes and lacquered white pedestals for a very modern feel.
After the ceremonial speeches, guests walked across the street to a massive blue lit tent for decadent desserts, cocktails, and a performance by Matchbox Twenty. A lavish tailgate ensued as waiters served bubbly and Baked by Melissa cupcakes from the trunks of Mercedes SUVs.
After a bash like this, heading home in a cab felt so utterly mundane!
