Met Gala 2013: Miranda Kerr’s Hollywood Waves Get a Punk Twist

Miranda Kerr showed more than a little skin on the red carpet of the Met Gala in Michael Kors, she also showed some scalp! While didn’t commit to the punk undercut that resurged in 2010, she used a stylish substitute of well placed braids to create the same effect with help from celeb stylist David Keough. “The whole theme is modern punk,” he explained. “Miranda loves [her] signature style of glamorous, so we stayed along those lines, but infused some rocker by adding two braids on the side which wrapped around and tucked underneath the nape of the neck.”

Keough started by creating a deep side part while Kerr’s hair was wet before apply Davines for Wizards No. 8 Quick Setting Hard Gel throughout the hair for solid hold. On the smaller section of the part, he create two smaller section that he French braided down and around the nape of the neck parallel to one another, tucking them under the rest of the hair. He then blended the gel with the No. 3 Universal Mattering Mousse throughout the larger section of hair and layered the OI/Oil for added shine before blow-drying the hair. Next he used a 1-inch curling iron to curl large sections and pinned them in place to cool off. Once cooled, he pulled out the pins and sprayed the section with the No. 14 Sea Salt Primer for lift and added an extra blast from the blow dryer. He sealed the look with a spritz of the Defining Invisible Hair Spray.
