Michael Kors Is Coming to a Beauty Counter Near You!


Looks like Michael Kors will be giving us a big boost of color for not only our fall wardrobes, but our beauty too!

The designer is stepping beyond fragrance to create a full-fledged cosmetics line, tapping into his signature sense of sexy, sporty, and glam to create three distinct collections inspired by his family. “My grandmother was over-the-top glam – she worshipped at the altar of Elizabeth Taylor,” he mused to Women’s Wear Daily. “ She loved jewelry, she loved color, she loved pattern, and she was definitely a woman who liked to enter a room with lots of bravado. And then I had the absolute opposite with my mother, who wore natural makeup, very little print, was very laid-back and relaxed and sporty.”

Each facet features a fragrance along with two Lip Lacquer shades, two Lip Luster Glosses, and two nail polish shades. The Sporty color story incorporates nude-taupes; Sexy has blue-reds and scarlet while Glam gets dark with plums and dark violet. There are also three Bronze Powders in three hues to illuminate the skin with different lights to apply with a Bronze Powder Brush.

Don’t worry! The rest of you will get some love too with Indulgent Body Crème, Liquid Shimmer Dry Oil, and Shimmer Bath Beads. There are also sun options for a golden glow with Liquid Self Tanner, After Sun Gelee, and After Sun Lip Balm. As for the fragrances, Sporty Citrus has a citrus open, orange flower at the heart, and a mossy drydown; Sexy Amber taps all three accords swaddled in white floral and creamy sandalwood; Glam Jasmine gathers the flower in many of its forms with cassis and sandalwood.

Just don’t expect Kors to have a regular season roll out that many other brands have. “Everything we’ve done in the beauty world has been because I’ve genuinely feel something’s missing. That’s how Leg Shine came about,” he explained. “As we see this evolve, if I see something that’s going to be an added component, that helps the story and helps simplify the whole beauty process for the customer. But there won’t be a set formula. It’s an emotion, not a commodity.”
