Music Musings: Mixtape Festival Brings TLC, NKOTB, One Republic and More

When we get that feelin', we know it's festival season! Okay, okay. That didn't really pan out how we imagined it, but our musical glee is for very good reason: the second annual Mixtape Festival is drawing near. We received word this morning that VH1 is bringing the pop music showcase back to the renowned Hersheypark Stadium in Pennsylvania, and we've yet to contain our excitement. Why, you ask? Well, because there's only one, two-day celebration that can unite New Kids on the Block, the Jonas Brothers, Boyz II Men, and OneRepublic on the same stage for prices as low as $50. Did we mention the July jamboree will also mark the return of TLC to the main stage? That's right: the record-breaking girl group, comprising Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, will reunite for what is sure to be an electric performance (and possible tribute to late band member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes).
“We are so thrilled to bring back the Mixtape Festival to Hershey,” said Geoff Gordon, Philadelphia regional president of Live Nation, who is co-sponsoring the festival with VH1. “There’s an incredible lineup and tons of interactive and fun activities, all while being set at a world-class amusement park–it’s really a pop music lover's dream.”
In anticipation of the July 26-27th fest, we've compiled the ultimate playlist to bring that old thing back: hits from Hanson, tunes from Train, and singles from Serena Ryder that will have you singing along.
