My Own Secret Ingredient

Cat Cora? Bobby Flay? These illustrious Iron Chefs don’t intimidate me. I’ve got a skillet, a knife, and a secret ingredient—and I’m not afraid to use ’em.

So in the spirit of culinary competition, I’m challenging myself to my own little virtual version of Iron Chef: America. How many delicious dishes can I dream up using one very versatile dehydrated fruit? We shall see. And the secret ingredient is … Bella Sun Luci’s sun-dried tomatoes! “Allez cuisine!”

Bella Sun Luci Risotto
In about 35 minutes, you can whip up a simple yet scrumptious sun-dried-tomato risotto. Perfect as a side or main course, Bella Sun Luci’s zesty rice dish is rich in flavor but not in fat. (Seriously, a low-fat risotto? Pinch me!) Just heat three cups of chicken stock in a small pot and a thin layer of olive oil in an adjacent pan. Add 1½ cups of the risotto. When the rice starts to look translucent, slowly start adding your chicken stock—a half cup at a time, stirring constantly. In about 30 minutes, you’ll have a restaurant-worthy dish. Shave on some fresh Parmesan cheese, garnish to your liking, and mangia, mangia, mangia. Watch out, Mario Batali.

Bella Sun Luci Sun-Dried Tomato Bruschetta
Every time you go into an upscale eatery, what do they serve you first? Fancy oils with schmancy baguettes. While carbo-loading will get you too full too fast, how can one resist diving into that abundant basket of breads?

Re-create the restaurant scene at home at your next dinner party. Pour high-end EVOO into a plate and add fresh herbs and spices like rosemary or basil. Finely chop a few of Bella Sun Luci’s sun-dried tomato halves and add them into your oil mixture. Serve it to your guests and watch them fill up on breads. It’s the ideal way to whet—or spoil—their appetites.

Hosting a larger party? Slice a baguette and lightly toast the pieces in your oven. Once they’re crisp, spread a teaspoon of Bella Sun Luci sun-dried tomato pesto with whole pine nuts on each. It’s almost effortless and absolutely ambrosial.

Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto Pizza
Top a ready-made pizza crust with olive oil, Italian seasoning, pesto sauce, Bella Sun Luci julienne-cut sun-dried tomatoes, and shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake it until it’s golden brown. Who knew pizza night could get even better!

Sun-Dried Tomato Omelet or Frittata
Breakfast is served. The best thing about an omelet or frittata is that you can get creative. Peppers, cheese, spinach, broccoli, and meats all make great additions. Sun-dried tomatoes will kick things up a notch and add an extra punch of pizzazz.

Chopped Salad With Sun-Dried Tomatoes
Eating the same salad every single day can get a bit boring. That’s why we like to spice things up with fresh, new ingredients. Bella Sun Luci’s julienne-cut sun-dried tomatoes are an easy way to switch up the ordinary chopped salad. Slice some grilled chicken, sprinkle in a little feta cheese, and add a few kalamata olives and artichoke hearts, and you’ve got a mouthwatering Mediterranean meal.

Pasta With Sun-Dried Tomatoes
Is pasta and sauce your go-to dinner? It’s fast, effortless, and reliably good. Next time, instead of the usual marinara, pour on Bella San Luci’s tomato and artichoke sauce. It makes Spaghetti Sundays extra special and super delicious. Or boil a pot of linguini and serve with olive oil, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and Parmesan cheese.

Sun-Dried Tomato Sandwiches
A picnic in the park doesn’t have to mean PB&Js or bologna sandwiches. Spice things up and make your finger food more interesting. Try fresh mozzarella, basil, and Bella Sun Luci sun-dried tomatoes on Italian bread.

There are so many other incredible ideas and recipes that use sun-dried tomatoes, like pasta salad, sun-dried-tomato hummus, and sun-dried-tomato cream soup. Sounds delish … I think I’m ready for Kitchen Stadium.
