Whoever thought Marilyn Monroe and Marvel Comic's Avengers would be in the same sentence? Well, with the release of trailers for the upcoming My Week with Marilyn and next year's The Avengers, it just happened.
The Marilyn Monroe biopic has been all the talk at this year's New York Film Festival with everyone wondering if Michelle Williams can pull off the role. For all you naysayers, take a gander at the trailer here and rethink your decision. Williams captures Monroe's vulnerability and sensuality quite well and early word from critics say Williams is a contender for another Oscar nomination (she received two in previous years). However, the film as a whole isn't setting any tongues wagging. We'll see what happens when the film is released on November 4th.
The Avengers doesn't come out until May 4, 2012, but that hasn't stopped studios from releasing tease after tease. The first taste of Avengers glory came from the release of Captain America: The First Avenger. At the end of the film, Marvel showed off a short teaser which had fan boys and girls everywhere screaming with delight. The new trailer promises action, humor and a lot of Avenger-on-Avenger conflict. Now we can only cross our fingers and pray that the films can live up to their hype.
