Girls may run the world, but apparently they don’t lead True Detective.
Show creator Nic Pizzolatto teased that season two would be about “hard women [and] bad men,” but as it turns out, he’s not looking to cast a Jessica Chastain—or any actress for that matter—in a “leading” role.
That doesn’t mean the boys have won this one, either. Pizzolatto not only debunked rumors of a leading lady, he shut down reports that any casting had been done for season two at all.
“Literally, not a single rumor about casting that has been printed anywhere has any truth to it whatsoever,” Pizzolatto added. “ I mean that literally. I’ve seen entertainment reporters say ‘My sources say.’ There are no sources. There’s me and two other guys and they don’t even know what I’m doing.”
The same could be said for Pizzolatto and his intentions after a new season of True Detective bows.
“Every season, I’m essentially creating a brand new TV show,” he told Calgary Herald of the anthology series, which followed Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as detectives earlier this year. He later added, “The job is exhausting to begin with, but it’s doubly exhausting and I’m writing every episode. I can’t imagine I would do this more than three years. I mean, I’d like to have a regular TV show.”
Blame it on the Yellow King.
