#NYFW: Bold & Beguiling at Jason Wu Spring 2013
Jason Wu entered the boudoir this season with sexy silhouettes fit for a temptress. The alluring look didn't stop at the shoulders as MAC, Kérasatse, and OPI amped up the dark glamor of the Spring 2013 collection.
Kérastase's Odile Gilbert hairstyle featured a tight African braid chignon, paired with a contrasting finger wave. “It’s all about mixing the different elements – we have African, 1930s and more altogether,” she said. “It's both very masculine and very feminine.” In order to snag the sultry style for yourself, Gilbert recommends first creating a deep side part and clipping away the smaller section. Tightly braid the larger section from crown to ends and set with Kérastase’s Double Force Hairspray. Tuck and pin the tail of the braid under itself for the chignon. Slick one side of the front section with the brand’s Elixir Ultime Rose Millenaire for a boyish look and with the other side create a single finger wave using the Elixir Ultime for shine and texture. Top off the hairdo with a few spritz of the Double Force Control Ultime.
For the smoldering eye and lip look, MAC turned to Diane Kendal to bring the sensuality to life. “When I went to a meeting with Jason, he had a mood board, and his inspiration was Helmut Newton – very strong, sexy women, very bold,” she said. After evening out the skin tone, Kendel sculpted the cheekbones with the upcoming Taupe Shape Powder Blush and Poised Powder Blush with a dusting of Silver Dusk Iridescent Loose Powder for a touch of innocence. For a gilded eye, she blended Golden Lemon Pigment from Lash to brown, which was filled in with either Dirty Blond and Deep Dark Brunette Brow Fluidliner set for a Spring 2013 release. She elongated the eye using the MAC Pro Black Crème liner with a few coats of Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara. The perfect pout for the show blended Cherry and Vino Lip Pencils together layered with Lady at Play and Lush Lip Mineralize Rich Lipsticks with a touch of MAC Pro Process Magenta Lipmix and set with a Neo-Orange Pigment.
To give the tips and toes a new look, OPI applied two coats of Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees to the fingers, and the feet looked nearly naked in Samoan Sand. With sultry style like this, there’s no way anyone can resist!
