Set in the Victorian-esque ballroom of the Jane St. Hotel, the Behnaz Sarafpour Spring 2013 show exuded a classic elegance to match its stunning location. The dimly lit antique chandeliers overhead and plush red velvet couches truly took us back to another era as the vintage, Art Nouveau-inspired collection glided down the oriental carpet-turned-runway.
Classic met modern through all the looks, namely in a brocaded, bone jacket — that was made sleeveless, blending the best of both worlds. Sarafpour’s peplum tops accompanied with both cigarette and wide leg pants, and color palette of off-white, black, and olive made for a chic entwining of the ages.
But the standouts look was the second to final piece — a black, art nouveau, embroidered mesh top with a chartreuse floor length skirt of silk crepe and satin.
