THE PLACE: The Bowery Ballroom, New York
THE DEETS: The world's reigning sexiest man alive, Adam Levine, and his band came to New York for a one-night-only performance on Friday to celebrate American Express' new card: Amex EveryDay. Well, it's not every day that we're treated to an intimate performance by the wildly popular pop-rock band at the Bowery Ballroom--as many have noted, these days Maroon 5 could sell out a venue twenty times the size if not more. Even the front man himself reminisced: "Man we haven't been back to Bowery Ballroom since like 2003."
But for 100 Amex VIPs, this was just another (albeit, epic) day, that began with a SoulCycle Spin Class inside Grand Central (gotta start the day right), followed by makeovers from Sephora and DryBar, red-carpet dressing from Rent the Runway, and culminating with the VIP concert where Levine crooned every single hit from his 10+ year career. The band got the audience dancing from the get-go with "One More Night" before throwing back to four songs from their debut album: "This Love," "Harder to Breathe," " Sunday Morning," and "Shiver." But the real treat of the night was the band's first-ever live performance of the new single "Maps," from their forthcoming fifth studio album V, before rounding out the set with "Love Somebody," "Stereo Hearts," and "Moves Like Jagger."
Of course, no event these days is complete without a social media component, and fans of Maroon 5 that were unable to make it in person could follow along on Amex's YouTube site (watch, or relive, the full show here). Despite the high level of energy in the Ballroom, concert attendees had the social media fans to thank for unlocking the night's encore performance. Levine and company returned to the stage to perform "Payphone," "Daylight," and the hit that started it all: "She Will be Loved."
Indeed, thanks for showing us the love Maroon 5!
