Party Report: OpenMarket NYC 2014

THE PLACE: Highline Stages, Meatpacking District, New York City

THE DEETS: Some of the best of what New York City has to offer can be found within a square-mile radius known as the Meatpacking District. It’s here that old slaughterhouses and tenements of decades past transformed into luxury shopping boutiques, frequented night clubs, and five-star restaurants that cater to some of the most exclusive clients in town. Last night, the chic center was celebrated with the second annual OPENMARKET NYC festival to benefit the Meatpacking District Improvement Association (MPIA) and “celebrate this diverse and dynamic community.”

Co-chairs Diane von FurstenbergAndrew Rosen, and André Balazs were all on hand to welcome guests and VIPs who not only shelled out money to attend the fundraising effort, but were also generous in purchasing discounted designer wears from DVF, Jay Godfrey, Helmut Lang, Rebecca Taylor, alice + olivia, Intermix, and more. Surely decadent bites and a generous supply of complimentary cocktails from Bar Nana, SoHo House, and 25 other dining attractions helped.

DJs Chelsea Leyland and Ella Dee kept the party going well into the night while patrons treated themselves to complimentary massages from Exhale Spa, were entertained by an all-white-everything dance troupe, and bid on private shopping parties, trips, and culinary lessons in a silent auction. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be used to help MPIA “ improve the visitor experience and unite the community,” though we don’t need any convincing to call 14th Street home.
