THE PARTY: Sweet Life Festival 2014
THE PLACE: Merriweather Post Pavilion, Maryland
THE DEETS: Despite impending storms, festival goers took over Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday for a fantastic spring afternoon filled with music, delicious food, and Instagram worthy moments. With a diverse lineup, including Lana Del Rey, Bastille, Bombay Bicycle Club, and ASTR to name a few, the stages were clearly the highlight of the day, but little nooks and crannies of the festival grounds provided great entertainment as well.
In the VIP section, Jessica Alba's company, Honest, set up an adorable tent as an escape from the sun, complete with comfortable woven chairs and free Honest sunscreen for the taking. When hunger pains hit, the problem wasn't finding good food, but rather narrowing down your options and tasting as many different offerings as possible. Luckily, the Infatuation guys had the culinary game locked down, and offered up their favorites.
While most festivals have a decidedly removed feel between the artists and their fans, Sweet Life is the exact opposite. In the middle of her performance, Del Rey jumped off the stage to take selfies, while Dan Smith of Bastille strolled through the audience, performing "Flaws."
Though the skies opened mid-set of the last act of the day - Foster the People's performance - and the crowd on the lawn received the brunt of the rain, it only seemed to invigorate the audience and the band. Sweet Life ended with a messy, revitalizing dance party ... exactly what everyone was looking for in their festival experience.
