Party Report: The Limited Goes Gladiator with ‘Scandal’ Collection
THE PARTY: The Limited Collection Inspired by Scandal Launch Party
THE PLACE: IAC Building, New York City
THE DEETS: When Scandal returns to ABC tomorrow night, gladiators will be able to look the part. After celebrating its third season last year at Saks Fifth Avenue, Emmy-nominated actress Kerry Washington and Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo welcomed the fourth, in style, with a collection at The Limited.
Monday night, a fall 2014 capsule with sleek woven capes, drape collar coats, power trousers, and tailored suits was unveiled from the line—it read more like a full wardrobe than a one-off collaboration, much to our delight. “Olivia Pope is a modern day powerful woman,” Washington shared. “She is too busy to follow trends and looks for key pieces to incorporate into her wardrobe—look at her amazing outerwear collection. She is always on the move, so it’s important to have a statement coat that carries across seasons.” Much like the Max Mara one that Pope donned throughout season three (which helped conceal Washington’s pregnancy), but for the woman who doesn’t quite have Pope’s budget.
While Washington posed on the red carpet with Paolo and The Limited senior VP of design Elliot Staples, DJ Reach got into the groove with hits from Usher, Aaliyah, and Trey Songz. Socialite Bevy Smith and award-winning stylist DiAndre Tristan made air-kissed rounds, with Tristan likely scoping pieces for one of his top clients, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts. If Washington’s description of the wares is any lead, we’re sure to see Roberts, and other “gladiators” dressing the part, soon.
“The collection is a nod to our devoted fans,” Washington added. “To fans of fashion and to women everywhere who are inspired to boldly pursue their passions and look good while doing it.” Sounds like us Glam girls!
