Delpozo, Naeem Khan, Badgley Mischka and more--these were just some of the designers donned by the celebrities on the 16th Costume Designers Guild Awards red carpet at The Beverly Hilton February 22. While we reveled in their latest evening ensembles, we couldn't help but think about how far each actress had come during their stylish Hollywood careers. And so the question was asked, "What did you wear on your first red carpet?"
Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka and Amandla Stenberg of Hunger Games(both new acquaintances ofLorde and Taylor Swift) hung out all night, both competing in the cuteness department with their stylish ensembles. 14 year-old Shipka's first real Hollywood bash was a while ago as her big break as Sally Draper came in 2004, though she does have a favorite frock from the red carpet: the 2014 spring tea-length dress by Delpozo she wore to the 2013 Emmys. Best of all, she got to keep the flirty and floral frock! Silver screen newcomer Stenberg hardly hesitated before sharing the memory of her first red carpet dress, the dazzling Collette Dinnigan flapper inspired frock she donned to the Hunger Games Los Angeles premiere. The sparkling style was the perfect dress to don for her breakout performance as Roe.
Another young actress, Teen Wolf's 29-year old star Crystal Reed can't quite remember her first red carpet soiree, but she counts her appearance at the 2013 MTV Music Awards as one of the big ones. She immediately fell in love with her gown, a red Zac Posen number from his Resort 2014 collection, which she styled with a leopard print clutch and sleek chignon. But did she get to keep the beauty? "No, I wish. I don't know where I'd wear it to again though. It's like this [pointing to her Naeem Khan spring 2014 embellished gown]. I don't know where I'd wear this to again."
Then there's the beautiful and talented Elisabeth Rohm, who has probably been in the industry since before some of the previous interviewees were out of elementary school. The 40 year-old American Hustle actress has difficulty recalling her first red carpet event, though she knows that they were during her time as part of the Law and Order cast. She does note, however, that there was no way she got to keep the dresses back then. "2001, wearing Halston," she finally concludes.
