When it comes to ABC’s hit drama Scandal, we're as entranced by Kerry Washington's character's mind as we are with her style. Clearly, we're not the only ones. Hard as it may be to make corporate style fashionable, costume designer, Lyn Paolo has successfully given Olivia Pope a standout aesthetic that's NYC sexy but DC worthy.
Recognizing that exact balance, Saks is hoping to capitalize off of the show and it's audience. With ten million weekly viewers, one million fans on Facebook and almost three million Twitter followers, Saks is thinking the Pope devotees will translate into sales. So come October 2nd, they've enlisted the help of Washington, the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes and Paolo for a little meet-and-greet with customers at Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York flagship store!
On display will be a selection of the fixer’s favorite fashion brands: think Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Carolina Herrera. While shopping, gladiators can expect to see Pope-isms like “It’s handled” featured on the store windows, and ... Washington will curate store window displays.
That's not all.
Women’s Wear Daily is also reporting that ABC could very well be interested in developing a lifestyle brand based on working women who relate to the clothes Washington wears on the show, though nothing has been finalized yet. Perhaps this is just the beginning of a very fashionable meets political friendship?
