Shu Uemura Gets Lippy with Yaz Bukey

From anime to pets to pop art, Shu Uemura finds inspiration everywhere, and its newest source is Yaz Bukey.

The artist and beauty brand will curate a 34-piece collaboration that will hit shelves in May to celebrate the artist’s 15-year anniversary of her line Yazbukey. The collection will correspond with four beauty looks pulled from the line of jewelry, including brooches resembling an open mouth, Plexiglas lipstick-shaped earrings, and a necklace of cabaret legs, clearly indicating that Bukey is a makeup maven like the rest of us. “For me, makeup is the same as accessories: You can change your personality and show different sides of yourself; that’s why I like makeup,” she told Women’s Wear Daily. “I always have red lipstick on.”

Beauty buffs can expect to see Bukey’s artistic touch on blurring skin smoothers, false lashes, lush lipsticks, and more that will be unveiled in Tokyo in March before is rolls out to retailers. The collaboration is only her second to hit beauty counters, as she previously partnered with Cire Trudon for a Violet and Leather scented candle, but she hopes to make more waves with new ideas. “I like to play with it,” she said. “You have to spread kisses and love everywhere.”
