Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker is getting a nod from New York City. The Lee Daniels’ The Butler star is being honored at this year’s Gotham Independent Film Awards with the Actor Tribute award for “breaking boundaries and challenging audiences with complex, multifaceted roles… as a producer, director and humanitarian,” according to Independent Filmmaker Project exec Joana Vicente.
