Star Scoop: Shia LaBeouf Headed to Broadway, See ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer, Johnny Depp’s ‘Lone’ Role


Everyone's favorite “Even Steven” will soon be making the big Broadway debut. Shia LaBeouf is headed to the Great White Way this spring opposite Alec Baldwin in the revival of Orphans. The April 7 opening will be a revival of the 1983 work about two orphan brothers, played by LaBeouf and a yet-to-be-announced actor, who kidnap an older man (Baldwin), who in turn becomes like the father they never had. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Director Gore Verbinski and the dreamy Johnny Depp make quite the pair. So much so that after their successful run with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, the two paired up again for Disney's latest tale, Lone Ranger. Depp stars alongside Armie Hammer (The Social Network, J. Edgar) as the Tonto to his John Reid as the duo rights wrongs in the wild, wild west. [Huffington Post]

While we're on our new film frenzy, we couldn't pass up the chance to tell you that the Man of Steel trailer is out. Not only is it a theatrical tease, but we get to see the dashing Henry Cavill star as Superman in a bodysuit, cape and all. That plus and Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Russell Crowe rounding out Superman's parental structure in the Christopher Nolan-produced movie, and folks, we think we have a summer 2013 blockbuster on our hands! The late Donna Summer, Public Enemy, and composer Randy Newman are among the six inductees to the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They'll be added to the prestigious hall along with blues legend Albert King, and bands Heart and Rush, on April 28, 2013. [ABC News]

Funny guy Andy Samberg has been announced as the host of the 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards in February. He's taking over from friend Seth Rogen, and will emcee the ceremony where Beasts of the Southern Wild, Silver Linings Playbook, and Moonrise Kingdom are among the contenders for the night's top Best Feature award.
