Style Scoop: Alek Wek Brightens Up Benetton, Dolce & Gabbana Endorse John Galliano, Victoria Beckham Teases New Site


United Colors of Benetton has recruited models Alek Wek and Chris Brown's doppelgänger Dudley O'Shaughnessy for its Spring 2013 campaign. This may not sound like news, but considering Benetton's controversial ads of yesteryear — from a newborn baby with an umbilical cord still attached, to photoshopped images of political leaders like Barack Obama and China's President Hu Jintao kissing — this is quite the turn for the colorful brand. Famed transgender model Lea T. joins the pair along with England's Charlotte Free and Italian chef Matias Perdomo, all of whom you can get to know better in this behind-the-scenes video. A week after Oscar de la Renta lent a huge hand to John Galliano, the fallen Dior designer has received another big endorsement from the pair at Dolce & Gabbana. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana recently praised Galliano for his “flamboyant talent” in their company's luxury magazine Swideand went on to say that “he has been missed from the fashion scene these two years and we can't wait to see the collection with Oscar de la Renta.” [VOGUE UK]

H&M continues to champion eco-friendly style with its latest initiative: a partnership with the World Wildlife Fund to aid in water conservation. This year, WWF's Jim Leape, Director General of WWF International, will work with H&M to implement new water strategies that will support more sustainable and transparent use of the valuable resource. Japanese retailer Uniqlo is extending its own hand of goodwill to athletes competing in the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games next week. The company will be outfitting several Asian teams with 4,900 pieces of clothing for the week long event. [WWD]
