Fashion editor Suzy Menkes is ready for the fashion cycle to spin a bit more slowly. In a new piece for T Magazine, the style authority equates the peculiar retail schedule (winter coats being sold in the summer, bathing suits going on sale in winter), to the fast production of “factory-baked cookies” where creativity can't seem to keep up with consumption. “As the fashion carousel spins ever faster,” she wrote, “the concern is that, while the stream of newness never runs out, there’s going to be a good deal more crash and burn among designers in the future.” [T Magazine]

Apparently, one of Beyoncé's favorite designers helped her idol get over a trademark fashion faux pas. Roberto Cavalli recalled a conversation he had with the King of Pop during a pre-tour consultation that ultimately led to him shedding his signature socks. “He came to me and said, ‘Roberto, I need you to give me a new look. I'm tired of the moccasins, I'm tired of the white socks.’ So I created a fantastic jacket for him, it took months to make.” Whatever happened to that custom creation, you ask? “I remember when he got on stage, there were thousands of people in the audience yelling, ‘it's too hot for the jacket.’ So he threw it into the crowds! I couldn't believe it. I said to myself, ‘I am never making him a jacket again.’” [Vogue UK]
