Megan Hilty knows resilience, and it’s not just in terms of her career. Though Smash was short-lived, she’s already slated for a new show this fall called Sean Saves the World (not to mention she just released her album It Happens All the Time). And though her golden tresses tend to be fragile, she knows how to keep her strands strong.
No wonder John Frieda chose the triple threat to celebrate Blonde Appreciation Month. For the festivities, Frieda fans submitted photos for an everlasting artwork installation exhibiting the nation’s collective vision of what it means to be blonde. In the midst of celebrating the installation we received a great tip from Hilty herself on keeping golden tresses at their peak when you’re hitting the surf and sand.
On top of using the Everlasting Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner, the avid swimmer revealed regular water prevents blonde locks from turning green! “Whenever I got to the beach or to the pool, I wet my hair first. Blonde hair is more porous – everyone should be doing this,” she explained. “But it’s the origins of the whole ‘don’t go into the pool or your hair will turn green’ [philosophy] because it soaks up all of the chemicals, and you end up with that green color.”
Another one of her summer beauty staples? Frieda’s Crystal Clear Shape & Shimmer Hairspray, and you don’t need to be blonde to use it! “It’s amazing,” she gushed. “It’s so light and so clear that you can use it on the blondest hair and you won’t see it. You can brush through it, and it still holds its body and it doesn’t look crispy.”
