To cap off the summer season, jump into fall, and kick off the beginning of New York Fashion Week, photographer Ben Watts hosted the opening of his latest exhibition at Milk Studios: Ben Watts' Mix Tape, presented by HTC. Endless photographs lined the walls, featuring his signature pops of color, but it was a special model collaboration that drew everyone's attention … and rightly so.
Holding court in the center of the gallery were eight surfboards, starring Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, Dree Hemingway, Emanuela De Paula, Karlie Kloss, Citia Dicker, and Ashley Smith. The lovely ladies flaunted their beauty for a special project, posing for Watts' lens to create images to decorate Kelly Slater's surfboards.
Throughout the evening, as guests posed, danced, and mingled around the statement making surfboards, a silent auction took place. Surfing aficionados (or major model supporters) placed bids on the boards, relishing in the fact that 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the models' charities: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Wild Aid, Lauren Bush FEED Project,Funds for Public Schools, Save The Children, Kids Fit Foundation. What better way to send off the summer months than with a brand new surfboard and the anticipation of the arrival of next summer?
