Have you woken up at the crack of dawn to get downtown to try an authentic Dominique Ansel cronut yet? No? Neither have we. But that certainly doesn’t mean that we’re not longing to try one.
For the holidays, not only is The Cronut Mission aiming to provide cronut lovers and seekers with the hard-to-come-by treat, it’ll help others in need. The project will help feed the hungry by auctioning off specially-crafted cronuts, complete with Thanksgiving themed accouterments like pumpkin filling and gold leaf. Also involved in the project are fashion notables including Peter Som, Heidi Klum, Jonathan Adler, Simon Doonan, Amanda Freitag, Joan Rivers, David Start and Vicente Wolf, all of whom will design pastry boxes to hold the cronuts as they’re auctioned off online.
Bidding will run from November 18 to 26, with opening bids set at $100. All proceeds from the auction will benefit God’s Love We Deliver. So skip the 5AM lineup this holiday season and be sure to be one of the lucky bidders to receive Thanksgiving cronuts delivered to your doorstep. Now, that’s something to be thankful for.
