The Autumn Updo: Two to Try Today

For the ultimate autumn updo, we’re keen to revamp the classic bun with something a little more texturized. Re-create our two favorite deconstructed buns from the fall 2013 runway—one for your daytime outing and the second to change into in time for your evening affairs.

The day version comes from the Marchesa runway. Create a deep part and section your hair into three pieces, twisting and wrapping each around the other at the base of your neck to create a clusterlike bun. Use bobby pins to secure.

The nighttime chignon sticks to the same undone principles as your daytime bun but looks a little less organic and a bit more glamorous. First, part hair down the middle. Beginning two inches in, brush hair back and tease strands to create volume on top. Tie hair into a ponytail. Create a bunlike structure with the ponytail, using the tie as a base and bobby pins to secure the strands.
