We’re still one year out from the release of Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens. If the insurmountable anticipation weren’t already enough, a trailer for the J.J. Abrams-helmed film has arrived.
Episode VII’s space opera will pick up thirty years after Darth Vader was (seemingly) destroyed in Return of the Jedi. The first person we see in the film’s 88-second teaser is newcomer John Boyega, who appears to have a prominent stormtrooper role. Though they don’t appear in the trailer, Lupita Nyong’o, Adam Driver, and Gwendoline Christie will also have a hand at the epic, joining Star Wars alum Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill.
Abrams and company have lent no plot points, and a majority of the bold-faced names associated with the cast are playing unspecified characters. All we know, from this sneak peek, is that “there has been an awakening.” Lightsabers, orchestral cues, stormtroopers, and all. Surely, we’ll get more insight before its December 18, 2015 bow. Until then, may the force be with you.
