Everyday there seems to be a new app that is pegged "life changing" or "new and noteworthy," but PS Dept may actually be able to live up to those claims.
“The app, which was founded by fashion industry vet Michelle Goad and tech executive Wolf Klinker in 2011, seeks to transform the concept of virtual shopping, packing the personal perks of an in-store shopping experience into a mobile app,” The Cut reported.
Here’s how the app works: text a question to an “in-store expert” and a fashion expert will respond directly from the store. You can answer whether an item is in stock or how to wear something. If you live in Manhattan, you can purchase directly from the app for same day delivery.
With access to in-store experts at over 40 luxury brands like Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Moda Operandi and Theory, after filling out a profile and choosing your favorite brands, you may literally, never need to step foot into a store do to your shopping. Did we mention there's free shipping and free returns all to all purchases made from the app?
“We built PS Dept to take the friction out of needing to go into stores,” Goad told The Cut. “If you need something, there’s people in-store who are actually on call. We call them the ‘Genius Bar for Fashion’ because they’re accessible from anywhere.”
